City-hof is a high-rise complex of buildings designed by the architect rudolf klophaus on the street klosterwall in hamburg, completed in 1958. the ensemble consists of four thirteen-storey high windows placed perpendicular to the street, which are connected by a common one- to two-storey plinth structure, which is connected to the street by a connecting wall. the ensemble consists of four thirteen-storey high-rise slabs placed perpendicular to the street, which are connected by a common one- to two-storey base building, which accommodates a shopping arcade, among other things. the complex was one of the first high-rise buildings to be erected in hamburg after the second world war. the city-hof is a typical building of international post-war modernism. The property has been owned by the free and hanseatic City of hamburg since 2006. the main tenant of the city courtyard since its completion was the hamburg-mitte district office, but after its relocation in may 2017 the building was vacant in view of the new development of the site already planned at that time.in march 2018, the demolition permit for the building complex was granted under building law, followed in march 2019 by the demolition permit under monument protection law, and work on demolition began shortly afterwards in april 2019.
